The ava is really nice for your first, good colors and pic,, only the size doesn't look good. The normal size for ava's is 100x100. The text is not very good.
The sig isn't bad neither, but you can improve a lot in this. The glow around the player doesn't look nice, and lower the opacity from the badge. The text is not very bad, but you can improve it.
Keep practicing and check out some or our fab tuts

Yer the ava is good other then the text .. the sig ads sed above can be improved .. not bad for first try .. stick at it

Ava- Make it usual size, download a simple font, maybe optimus princeps and use that as a font, then will be great mate.
Sig- I would do a little bit of white brushing towards the bottom of the render, this should be above the render.Maybe try about with some render effects, but as your knew maybe try a render tut, maybe a little bit of white owered opacity brushing over the nou camp like on my henry sig would look nice. Finally dowload soe fonts and play around until you have cracked it.
